Weekend at Star Valley

Poor Kolby-
I don't know why the littlest
one is on the bottom?

We spent last weekend at Colt's parents cabin in Star Valley with our friends and their two kids. It was so much fun for the kids and so relaxing for the parents! We left Friday night and our kids were exhausted and fell asleep before we even left town and slept the whole way there, so I was a little concerned how bedtime was going to go and sure enough it went just like I thought it might. None of the kids were in bed before midnight and they woke up at seven- what ever happened to sleeping in when you're on vacation? Thankfully they weren't too cranky even though it was a short night. We played in the stream, roasted hot dogs (which weren't as good as somehow I remember them being) shopped a little and just had fun hanging out with our friends and our kids. It's such a great place, I wish we took the time to go more just to get away for a while.

Whitney Res.

Thank heaven for little boys!

First Fish!

We decided to take advantage of a no-work day for Colt and take the kids to Whitney to fish. It started out a little rough as both kids were not happy campers when we first got there- short naps will do that to ya! But, we walked along the shore and Colt caught one within a few minutes. We tried to get Kyson to hold it but he wasn't really liking the idea and then all of the sudden the fish slipped out of Colt's hands and slapped Kyson right on the head! He ended up with fish blood in his hair and slimy stuff on his face but he thought it was pretty funny. Anyway, the first fish has to have a story to tell right? It was so fun to play in the water and let the kids get dirty and play all day!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Grandpa Mark and the cute little boys.
Kolby- wishing Daddy would take him in that water!
A little dip in the river... sorry about the bad angle!
Our poor little boys got cooked! Sunscreen is a must in the Jeep from now on!

Saturday was my Dad's birthday and we spent the day having a picnic by the river and just hanging out with the fam. It was a super fun day, hope you thought so too Dad! Love ya lots!

Happy 4th!

The fourth of July here in Evanston is a HUGE celebration, by that I mean it is a great excuse to light off fireworks all hours of the day and night! The noise and the garbage all over the place from fireworks really annoyed me the first year we lived here, but this year we set off fireworks and kind of joined the crowd and it actually was really fun! The night of the third Kyson and I watched fireworks on the porch for two hours. On the fourth, Hilary and our friend Jeremy came up to our house and we played and went four-wheeling then watched fireworks at Steve and Diana's until we couldn't stay awake any longer! Kyson and Kolby loved the fireworks from a distance, but Kyson did not want his Daddy lighting them anywhere close to him! I think it was two in the morning before I finally heard the last pop, but I'm already looking forward to next year- am I a true Evanston resident or what?

Miracle Whip & Food Coloring Anyone?

Even though it's a mess to clean up, I love seeing the cute funny things these two do every day. My life must have been so boring before I was a mom!

Family Reunion Time!

Kyson, Kolby and I ventured up to Logan this past weekend for a family reunion with my mom's side of the family- Colt had to work :( It was so much fun, very hot, but very fun! The little red car thing in the top picture was definately the hit of the weekend though, I would have to say. Kyson didn't want to share it very badly, as you can tell by the close eye he is keeping on my cute nephew Caleb while he's taking a turn. The reunion was at my mom's aunt and uncle's house and they are really the nicest most generous people I know! They had so many fun things set up for the kids. Kyson and Kolby made these little cardboard cars for a "drive-in" movie one night, they had a candy store and fake money the kids could use, we flew kites (which Kyson loved), painted crafts, jumped in the bouncy castle, played on their playground and the list goes on and on! It was just fun to be outside and let the kids just be kids and play all day long. We also went ice skating with the whole family and Kolby slept most the time except for this picture of Annie trying to get him to skate with her for just one minute! Kyson actually really liked it and walked around in his skates like he had done it a million times. He was pretty good at it but for the most part my sisters and I just dragged him around while he put every bit of his little twenty five pound body weight on us! A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the reunion and thanks to my mom and sisters and sister-in-law for help with my little monsters!
